The oil separator in refrigeration systems working principle is based on the density difference between oil and refrigerant. It separates oil droplets from the steam by reducing the gas flow rate, changing the gas flow direction, and using centrifugal force and gravity. After the mixed gas enters the separator, it flows spirally along the guide vanes, and the oil droplets are thrown to the cylinder wall, flow down along the wall and accumulate at the bottom. The pure refrigerant vapor enters the condenser through the central pipeline, and the separated lubricating oil automatically flows back to the compressor crankcase through the float valve for recycling.


Common types of oil separators in refrigeration systems include centrifugal type and filter type. The centrifugal type has good separation effect and is suitable for large-scale systems; the filter type has a simple structure and wide application, and intercepts oil droplets through metal wire mesh filtration. Daily maintenance requires regular inspection of oil level, cleaning of impurities, and replacement of filter elements according to the cycle to ensure separation efficiency, avoid insufficient compressor lubrication or abnormal system heat exchange caused by separation failure, and it is an important guarantee for the stable operation of the refrigeration system.
